The
Texas GTA series
is unique because it runs under N.A.S.A. (National Auto Sport
Association) and S.C.C.A. ( Sports Car Club of America ) sanctioning.
The GTA series is
based in Texas but some of the scheduled events lure the Texans to
venture out of the great State of Texas. The Texans quickly
learned that GTA Stock Car Road racing is among the fastest growing
classes in road racing and it has become known as a fast, very
affordable, and
safe way to go racing.
Texas GTA utilizes the standard GTA rules with the addition of the 604
crate engine and the ZZ4 Fast Burn engine with the HO cam.
These two engine options will coincide with the "open engine" rules
currently in effect in other series. Although everything is said
to be bigger in Texas, they have discovered there is a lot of "bang for
the buck" in a GTA racecar. You have safety, speed, V-8 sound and power,
and fun for less than a
nationally competitive Spec Miata. Although
competition drives the series, additional emphasis is placed on safety,
camaraderie, well-defined specifications and rules, fairness, and
promoting a good name for the series sponsors, associates and most of
all, the race fans. Texas GTA will be racing at the following race
tracks in 2008: Motor Sport Ranch (Houston, Texas), Texas World Speedway
(College Station Texas), Texas Motor Speedway (Ft. Worth, Texas),
Hallett Motor Racing (Jennin gs, Oklahoma), Eagles Canyon (Decatur, Texas), Heartland Park (Topeka Kansas), and the American
Road race of Champions
at Road Atlanta (Gainesville, Georgia). One
of the highlights of the Texas GTA series is the hosting of a GTA
National Tour event
at Texas World Speedway April 19 th
and 20th
2008. GTA competitors from as far
away as California and Florida are
expected to attend.
